Filing for financial aid is not difficult. Most colleges require the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA), while a few require the CSS-Profile. Each require that you use your most current tax information. This is especially true of those in a lower income bracket - those who potentially could qualify for the "Simplified Needs Test".
